CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA
In 2005, the City of Clearwater City Council adopted an ordinance establishing the Public Art and Design Program and requiring that eligible City capital improvement projects and eligible private development projects participate in the public art program. Upon adoption of the ordinance, the City of Clearwater hired Via Partnership, in collaboration with urban designer Todd Bressi, to work with the City and the Public Art and Design Board to create a Public Art and Design Master Plan. The resulting plan, adopted in 2007, establishes criteria, policies, and priorities for the Public Art and Design Program and sets a strong direction for the future of the program. The plan recommends a prioritized list of projects that shape the city image, strengthen civic connectivity, and support neighborhood identity. It also recommends how private developers can support these public art goals.
